Sean Brennan Irish Naval Association Sean's Grand Uncle Michael Hanley from Bere Island Bantry Co.Cork joined the Coldstream Guards on the 22nd Nov 1915 while in London to visit his brother who was a CPO Stoker in the Royal Navy. On the 26th October 1916 Michael was part of the expeditionary sent to France. Michael was killed while a stretcher bearer on the 5th September 1917 he was 21 Years of age. He has no marked grave but it is believed he was buried near Artillery Wood Cemetery near the Town of Ypres While Michael has no known Grave his name is inscribed on the Memorial in Tyne Cot Cemetery and on the WW1 War Memorial in Island Bridge in Dublin Below click the link (Michael Hanley) to see a wonderful detailed account kept by Michael's family and his Grand-Nephew Sean (pictured above)
